Summary | 0002044: Store Ethernet MAC address in Controller
Description | Currently the Ethernet MAC address is passed as a command line argument from U-Boot to the Linux kernel. This is error prone if the user modifies the bootargs and misses this setting. It would be better to always activate the Ethernet controller(s) in U-Boot, store the MAC address(es) directly in the controller(s) and fetch them again in Linux from the controller(s). There is already some code in Linux for doing this, but it is not yet used.
