| Description | Starting around buildroot-2013.11, buildroot has a similar way of compiling the Linux kernel out-of-tree. And in fact they use a rather similar way of copying the kernel to output/build/linux by creating hard links. However they seem to forget a "make distclean" at the beginning and they can't use symbolic links if the kernel sources and the buildroot tree are on different filesystems. We should check if we can join our method with the regular buildroot method. The result would be an enhanced buildroot method that includes our additional features. But the user would only see the same configuration options as in mainline buildroot. This modification would reduce maintenance work in the future. | ||||
